Cloak — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 25, 2026 · A yForest.ai product

The short version: Cloak runs entirely on your device. It has no servers, no analytics, and no network access. Nothing you type — and nothing it detects — is ever transmitted anywhere.

What Cloak does

Cloak is a Chrome extension that detects and replaces sensitive information (names, companies, emails, phone numbers, financial details, and similar data) in text you choose to process, before you paste it into an AI tool. It can also restore the original values in an AI's response using a mapping kept only for your current session.

Data we collect

None. Cloak does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information. We operate no backend servers for this extension. There is no telemetry, no usage tracking, and no advertising.

Where your data goes

Text you enter is processed locally, inside the extension, using a machine-learning model that is bundled with the extension itself. The model and all pattern matching run on your computer. No part of your text leaves your browser at any point.

Local storage

Cloak uses your browser's local storage only to remember your own settings (such as which categories of data to detect). The temporary mapping used to restore values in an AI response is held in session memory and is discarded when you close the popup — it is never written to disk and never leaves your device.

Permissions and why they're used

Cloak requests no host permissions and has no access to the content of the websites you visit.

Third parties

We do not share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the revised version at this URL.
